JamCast

Privacy policy.

Updated

Draft. This document has not yet been reviewed by a lawyer. It describes how JamCast works today in plain terms and will be revised after legal review.

JamCast is operated by Sanford Labs LLC, a single-member Michigan limited liability company ("Sanford Labs", "we"). This policy covers jamcast.io, the JamCast web app at app.jamcast.io, and JamCast signs.

What we collect

  • Account details: your email address, an optional first and last name, your time zone, and a hash of your password (never the password itself).
  • Your setup: the signs you claim, their names and settings, and your playlists, app settings (such as teams, stock symbols, cities and messages) and schedules.
  • Sign data: each sign's serial number, network (MAC) address, IP address, software version, status, last-seen time, and diagnostic logs and performance metrics the sign sends us.
  • Purchases: if you bought a sign through our store, the order and customer identifiers needed to link that sign to your account.
  • This website: anonymous usage analytics (pages viewed, referrer, clicks into the web app) through PostHog in cookieless mode. No cookies are set and no persistent identifier is stored in your browser.

Your home Wi-Fi password is entered on the sign itself and is stored on the sign. It is not sent to us.

Why we use it

To run your signs and your account, to show the content you choose, to fix problems, to deliver software updates, and to understand which parts of this website are useful. We do not sell personal information and we do not use it for advertising.

Who else handles it

  • Hosting: our servers run on infrastructure we rent from cloud and server providers.
  • Analytics: PostHog processes website usage data for us.
  • Store: Shopify processes orders placed through our store.
  • Content sources: to show scores, prices and weather, your sign or our servers request data from sources such as ESPN, Yahoo Finance, CoinGecko and OpenWeather. Requests your sign makes directly reveal its IP address to that source. They do not include your account details.

How long we keep it

Account and setup data are kept while your account is open. Sign logs and metrics are kept only as long as they are useful for troubleshooting. When you close your account we delete your personal data, except what we must keep by law.

Your choices

You can see and edit your account and setup in the web app. To get a copy of your data, correct it, or delete your account, email michael@sanfordlabs.io. We will answer within 30 days.

Children

JamCast accounts are for people 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

Changes

We will post changes here and update the date above. Significant changes will also be emailed to account holders.
